The gauntlet has been thrown down

Julie thinks I won't post. She only knows me too well.

Yes, I have a history of procrastinating. It was only recently when I filed my taxes before April, wrote a story earlier than the day it was due, get an oil change before the 3,000-mile mark.

But we can all change, can't we? I know I can. My namesake does all the time.

When he's out in the living room playing around, we barricade him in so he won't get to Chipper's dish. We put the banana chair down in the gap between the love seat and wall near the entertainment center, and there is a crate of shoes near the door.

For a while this has proven to be vexing for David Jr. Not any more.

He found that by removing shoes from the crate, he makes it lighter. That way he can move it to the side and step through. I remedied this by putting a dumbbell on the other side of the crate, but the only dumbbell was me.

David simply stepped into the shoe crate (on top of a few shoes) and stepped over.

He's a smart boy, so we're going to have to get smarter about how to keep him confined.
