Really?

Wow! I can't believe how long it has been since I've updated the family blog. I'm probably not even a blog any of my friends follow anymore because it has been so long since it's been updated! I know I stop checking after a while when a blog isn't up to date.

Anyway ... we did the tubes in Emma's ears on September 30th. The surgery went fine and like they anticipated Emma was super duper cranky when she came out of it. When we were discharged we were given all sorts of precautions to look for and one of them was a fever. The next day Emma did spike a fever and somewhat of a cough so I ended up taking her to Instacare. I explained that she had just had surgery and they looked her over. They came to the conclusion that she just had developed a slight infection and they gave her some medicine. I filled her prescription at target and took her home. Later that night I was really worried about her labored breathing so I ended up calling the on-call doctor. He could actually hear her breathing over the phone and said we needed to get her to the ER. GREAT! A $200 debit just to be seen. They decided that she actually had croup (unrelated to her surgery). They gave her a breathing treatment and some steroids and we were hoping we were going to be able to go home. Wrong. She actually ended up spending two night in the hospital.

I know they said it was unrelated, but I can't help but feel like it was somewhat started with getting tubes put in her ears.

Overall, though, I'm happy we did the tubes. It seems like Emma is speaking a little bit more. I know she is behind, but she can say words like mommy, daddy, and then anything that starts with a b that she recognizes she tries to say and it ends up just sounding like "b."
